Biography
Dr. Arif Ahmad was born in 1985 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. He completed his B.Sc. in Computer Science and Information Technology from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in 2009. He earned his Ph.D. in Bangla Natural Language Processing (NLP) in 2022, with his thesis titled "Synthesizing Natural Sounding Speech in Bangla". Dr. Ahmad began his academic career at Leading University, Sylhet, where he served as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) starting in January 2010. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in January 2015. He was appointed Head of the Department from January 2020 to February 2021. In October 2022, he joined the Bangladesh Army International University of Science & Technology (BAIUST), Cumilla, as an Assistant Professor in CSE. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Ahmad has been actively involved in coaching competitive programming teams, leading them to impressive performances in national competitions. His research interests include Machine Learning, Speech Processing, Natural Language Processing, and Artificial Intelligence. In July 2024, Dr. Ahmad joined the North East University Bangladesh (NEUB) as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of CSE.
