We, the people of Sylhet hailing from different ages, profession and political beliefs and united under the aegis of North East Education Trust (NEET) with the spirit of spreading education of various levels and branches of knowledge, have put our efforts and hard earned resources to establish North East University Bangladesh in Sylhet. North East Education Trust (NEET) and its members have the experience of running and managing educational institutions at the Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary level and also a Medical College offering MBBS degree. Taking stock of the experience and also resources, we started thinking of establishing North East University Bangladesh in July 2012 and got approval of the Government and UGC in March 2012.

The University became functional with academic activities in July 2012 - Summer Semester. The Syndicate, Academic Council and other committees comprising renowned Scientists, Economists, Educationists and Professors have been guiding the University Management Team led by Professor Dr. M. Khalilur Rahman as Vice Chancellor since May 2012. The Trustees are grateful to Professor Dr. M. Sodoruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, the first Vice Chancellor of SUST, Late Professor Dr. Bazlul Mabin Chowdhury, Former Vice Chancellor, IUB, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Former Governor, Bangladesh Bank and Founder President and Vice Chancellor of East West University for their wholehearted support. With the support of all in and outside the Trust, we were able to organize the Ceremonial Opening of NEUB on 9 June 2012 which was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Minister of Education Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, as Chief Guest.

For launching academic activities we got the syllabus and curricula of international standard developed by the reputed Professors of the country approved by the University Grants Commission. The Trustees University Management Team and the Faculty Members are very committed to provide quality education which helps the students to generate innovative ideas and adopt and apply the gathered knowledge in an innovative perspective.

North East University Bangladesh believes in the principle of equal opportunity for all, but the best should get the opportunity first. This allows NEUB to maintain quality in all spheres. We understand that this approach may initially limit the inflow of students and so much so income, but ultimately NEUB will be the winner and the country will be best served.

In the conclusion, I would like to invite the visitors of the webpage of NEUB and the Campus, located presently at the heart of the Sylhet City Corporation and free of all types of environmental hazards. NEUB provides the students, teachers and also the staff a safe, secured, gender sensitive and education friendly Campus.

Introduction: the present world has been passing through inevitable but irreversible process of globalization. Sylhet has embraced the qualities of the north viz the culture and technologies of the developed nations, and blended successfully with the oriental rich cultural traditions. 

Mission of NEUB: North East University Bangladesh is pledge bound to provide quality education at the tertiary level, so that its graduates can be the worthy citizens of the global village and survive in the competitions nationally and internationally. 

Goal of NEUB: North East University Bangladesh graduates are expected to be able to contribute to nation building activities as a productive force to enhance productivity. 

Principles of Management: North East University Bangladesh will pursue the democratic principles of management such as discussions with the stakeholders, that is the management personnel, faculty members, the students and also the guardians. North East University Bangladesh is committed to maintain, as late professor Dr. Bazlul Mobin Choudhury, former Vice-Chancellor of IUB advised the sponsors, high level of transparency and accountability at all stages. 

Methodology of Delivery and interaction: North East University Bangladesh not only deliver readymade knowledge to the students, but also inculcate in them the skills of how to source and gather knowledge and to apply knowledge. Interaction with people of various professions, such researchers, scientists, engineers, doctors, farmers, administrators, businesspersons will be arranged through seminars, workshops, gallery lectures, etc. The association of students with these people of reputation in their respective fields will help them to attain the skill of applying knowledge appropriately at the right time.
